Back to School

THANK GOD. I am SO sick of whining kids "bored with nothing to do". How lucky they are!
Year round school is starting to sound good to me. I think I'm old enough and I've earned the right to say this. Back in my day, our parents didn't entertain us. We didn't expect them to! We knew better than to whine about being bored, because if we did, we would be put to work. We didn't have video games, computers or The Internet, yet we found things to do. We had bikes, skateboards, balls, bats, swimming pools and neighborhood friends. We were gone from the time we woke up and had breakfast until it got dark and our parents were yelling or whistling for us to come home. Ironically, we weren't obese either. Coincidence? I think not. Our kids are spoiled. I'm guilty. I have half a mind to cancel cable TV, DSL and sell our gaming units. The other half of my mind remembers that there is not a lot to do in the winter here. I'm sure somehow we would survive. And probably be better off. So I'll get my cane now and get off my soapbox.

You're just NOW seeing the wonderful side of year round schooling? Sheesh - what I wouldn't GIVE to get rid of them for an entire year! :-) Think of all the MONEY we'd be saving with no summer too! :-)
